Volunteer/Service Opportunities
The vision of this campus ministry involves a desire to mobilize students to serve those who live in material poverty, homelessness, or have fallen on hard times. We try to make it possible for students to become involved in advocacy work, to build genuine relationships with others, and to get to know the faces of the people behind the issues that we are concerned about.
This year we hope to shorten the distance between the "haves" and "have-nots". We are encouraging students to be involved at the Metro Turning Point Shelter, Brunswick St. Mission for volunteering at breakfasts, socializing with homeless people at The Fish on Saturday nights, and letter writing advocacy parties to lobby our government. Through linking with established organizations and putting students in contact with them, we hope to have a year of genuine relationships fostered.
Scheduled Volunteer Opportunities for the Fall Semester:
Wednesday, October 15: Street Walk
Tuesday, November 11: Serve Breakfast to those in need at "Brunswick St. Mission"
Saturday, November 22: Serve Breakfast to those in need at "Brunswick St. Mission"
