The Campus Pastor
Hi, my name is Brad Close. I am the Christian Reformed Campus Pastor serving Dalhousie University. Hired and supported by the Christian Reformed Churches in Eastern Canada, I am a Chaplain to the entire Dalhousie community. I am a member of the Dalhousie Chaplain’s team and I work out of the Dalhousie Multifaith Centre at 1321 Edward Street. [MAP]
Born and raised in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, I moved to the city of Halifax in 2006. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Julie since 1999 and we have a two-year-old son named Micah. He’s the love of our life!
I have a Master of Divinity degree from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto and I am a capable speaker and preacher. On November 18, 2007, I was ordained as a minister in the Christian Reformed Church. Ordination is a formal “setting apart” of a person for the task of Christian ministry in God’s world.
As a campus pastor, my goal is to help you encounter the living God, to encourage you to love God above all else, and to encourage you to love your neighbor as yourself. I am also on campus to help you find community and to help you find a healthy balance between academic study, physical activity, rest, and worship.
I believe that a students’ university experience should include within it the quest for truth, goodness, and discipline, as well as a desire to pursue knowledge, develop healthy relationships, and seek out future career opportunities.
My Availability
I am available on-campus throughout the week to meet with students, staff, and faculty. I also have regular on-duty hours in the Dalhousie Multifaith Centre. Please feel free to email me or drop by my office to talk at any time!
