As a newcomer to Halifax, it was great to meet a group of friends who made me feel welcome as well as who helped me develop in my faith. The meetings of this group were made possible by the Christian Reformed Campus Ministry at Dalhousie, and were organized by Brad Close who led the weekly bible study.
Our discussions covered many areas and really helped me to learn a lot about the Bible and what it truly means to be a Reformed Christian. This learning was something I had never experienced in my home church and the bible study and discussion sessions really catered to my needs as a growing Christian. For me, studying the topic of prayer, faith and the will of God was the most valuable as this is something that I struggle with, and, I think, is a topic that is very relevant to a lot of students as they begin to make serious life choices. Even though there were many unanswered questions at the end of our discussions, I never once felt unsatisfied. Rather, I left the bible studies feeling better connected to my faith and at peace with the unknown.
I honestly feel that I learned and grew more as a Christian in the few weeks of bible study at the Chaplaincy Office than I have in my 23 years being raised in the Christian Reformed Church. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have met the people in this group and I pray that others will have a similar experience.
